As technology has changed the way many consumers access information, it has also affected the way companies reach out to these consumers. As such, "new media" has become an advertising term which, essentially, refers to marketing platforms that exist on the internet. A recent report from the Center for Media Research has shown which avenues are proving to be the most popular among advertisers.
According to the source, the most popular new media platforms are company websites (75 percent), online ads on third-party websites (72 percent), search engine marketing (71 percent), search engine optimization (70 percent), social media (67 percent), mobile marketing (64 percent) and then email and viral video marketing coming in at 63 percent and 51 percent, respectively.
In addition, mobile marketing scored the highest growing marks, as 33 percent of respondents say they started using the platform in the past year and plan on using it during 2013. Viral video came in after this at 28 percent, followed by blogs, social media and location-based apps.
"Marketers, responding to the growing diversification of the U.S. population, are increasing their spending to reach multicultural consumers, who are younger, more acculturated, and more tech-savvy, making new media platforms more important than ever," Bob Liodice, president and CEO of the Association of National Advertisers, told the source.
Furthermore, the source also states that spending on new media and multicultural marketing tactics will increase by 9 percent through the rest of the year, showing that many companies that already spend on this type of targeted internet marketing will increase their participation.
If other companies that are aiming at increasing their small business internet marketing tactics wish to effectively use these mediums, they may want to partner with an experienced digital advertising company.
