One of the most important functions of the smartphone is the ability to read and write emails on the go. Thanks to mobile devices, advertisers are now able to reach out to consumers without requiring them to be in front of a computer. In fact, a recent report from digital marketing firm Knotice revealed that the number of commercial emails viewed using cellular phones and tablets is predicted to surpass those opened on PCs by the end of 2013.
Knotice revealed that 41 percent of advertising emails were read on mobile devices during the second half of 2012, a figure that represented a 14 percent increase from 2011 and a 28 percent jump from the final months of 2010. Analysts for the company predict that if the trend continues, upwards of 50 percent of commercial emails will be opened on smartphones and tablets by the end of the year.
Interestingly enough, Knotice concluded that internet messages were not viewed on multiple devices. There was a very low probability, just 0.07 percent to be exact, that individuals who failed to open an email they were sent on their cell phone or tablet would look at it using another gadget, such as a computer.
These findings show that emails sent to consumers need to be important enough to not only grab, but hold their attention. If you own a business and don't think that the mail you are sending to current and potential customers is effective, consider reaching out to a local online marketing firm that specializes in email advertising. These companies can assist you with mobile display and ad development so that your potential clients turn into loyal customers.
