Digital advertising is a constantly evolving industry. As the internet and the way consumers engage with it changes, so too should small business internet marketing campaigns to adjust to these shifts. But, as the industry consistently evolves, it's also grown. In fact, according to recent numbers from the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), digital ad revenue is reaching all-time highs.
According to the report, mobile advertisements have nearly doubled year-over-year, growing by 95 percent. The newest advertising platform brought in $1.2 billion in the first half of 2012. Digital video and search revenues rose by nearly 20 percent from this time last year, with digital video generating nearly $1 billion in the first half and search revenues almost $7 billion.
Display advertising also rose in revenues, taking up the largest chunk of the overall total at 33 percent. In total, the digital advertising industry has reached a record high of $17 billion in the first of 2012.
"The report establishes that marketers increasingly embrace mobile and digital video, as well as the entire panoply of interactive platforms, to reach consumers in innovative and creative ways," Randall Rothenberg, CEO of IAB, said in a press release. "These half-year figures come on the heels of a study from Harvard Business School researchers that points to the ad-supported internet ecosystem as a critical driver of the U.S. economy."
With the massive increases in revenue, it's clear that many companies are investing in digital advertising, especially mobile. An experienced digital advertising agency can help small businesses implement these tactics into their targeted internet marketing campaigns.
